Barpeta: COVID care centre set up for treatment of cops

A COVID-19 care centre has been launched on Tuesday in Barpeta for the exclusive treatment of infected police personnel of the state.

The centre has 50-beds for accommodating the personnel. Provisions for providing oxygen to the patients will be available.

Assam Director General of Police Bhaskar Jyoti Mahanta inaugurated the centre today. The DGP stated most police officials have tested positive for COVID-19 in Guwahati city.

Additionally, in 16 I R Battalion of Barmanipur, a COVID-19 care centre comprising ten beds have been set up, while, in Dergaon Police Training College a care centre was launched as well.

So far, 1200 police officials and staffers have tested positive for COVID-19. Around, 500 personnel are undergoing treatment for the infection. 43 officials have also donated their plasmas while another 40 will donate theirs soon. Total four deaths have been reported.
