Beneficiary groups receive tractors from CM Sonowal in Majuli

Under the mission mode Chief Minister's Samagra Gramya Unnayan Yojana (CMSGUY), Assam CM Sarbananda Sonowal ceremonially distributed tractors to beneficiary groups at Garamur mini stadium in Majuli on Friday.

Stressing on organic farming to protect the pristine biodiversity of the river island, the CM said that a fund of Rs 4.5 Crore has been allocated under the DC for promoting these methods.

CM Sonowal also urged people to make Majuli a model district in organic farming. "Our aim is to make Majuli a carbon neutral district. Organic farming methods by farmers will help us achieve that goal", the CM said.

On the occasion, the CM also distributed ID cards to Govt accredited journalists of Majuli, felicitated boat makers, craftsmen and a group of brave souls who risked their lives to save some persons from drowning in the Brahmaputra.
