Bhupen Hazarika was a global icon: Singer Kailash Kher

Bollywoodsinger Kailash Kher on Friday reached Guwahati to attend the opening ceremonyof Ambubachi Mela. He remembered Assam music maestro Dr Bhupen Hazarika uponhis arrival in the city.

Interacting with media in Guwahati, Kher said, "I bought Dr Bhupen Hazarika's harmonium at Rs. 5 lakh at an auction. He was a global icon." He further said that Dr Hazarika has made remarkable contributions to the Assamese music.

Speaking about Bihu Kher said, "Bihu is not a festival, it is actually a religion." He said that he has a good relation with Assam heartthrob Zubeen Garg. "During several occasion, I have shared the stage with Zubeen," Kher added.
