Veteran actor Bishnu Kharghoria has been chosen for the Biju Phukan Award, 2019 instituted for the first time jointly by Assam State (Film and Finance) Development Corporation (ASFFDC) and the Directorate of Cultural Affairs.

Bishnu Kharghoria started his career as a child artist and along with movies, has also performed in numerous mobile theatres. He had also previously received the National Film Award for the movie Xagoroloi Bohudoor.

The award carries Rs two lakh, a citation and a shawl, will be handed over on February 18 in Dibrugarh by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal.
