Biswanath youths held for smuggling arms

Two youths hailing from Biswanath district have beenarrested and two 303 rifles have been seized from them on Friday evening. Theaccused were identified as Hanif Ali and Abdul Syed.

An officer of Biswanath Police said that the accusedwere nabbed from Baghmari area, based on a tip-off. Biswanath Police and ForestOfficials carried the joint operation to nab the youths.

It suspected that they came to supply the firearms to rhino poachers. Preliminary investigations revealed that the accused were smuggling it from Baludunga area under the district.

Offences against the accused have been registered at Biswanath Police Station and the officer also informed that further investigation was underway, to determine how they smuggled the arms and who was the intended buyer of the same.
