Pratidin Bureau

After Speaker of Assam Legislative Assembly, Hitendra Nath Goswami, BJP MLAs Atul Bora, Padma Hazarika and Rituparna Baruah, another MLA from the party, Debananda Hazarika has come forward opposing the much-debated Citizenship (Amendment) Bill.

BJP MLA from Bihpuria, Debananda Hazarika, on Wednesday said, "I as an MLA or personally do not support anything against the people of Assam," adding, "There should not be any class or religion in terms of foreigners."

The MLA asked the Chief Minister to clear his stand regarding the Bill. He also asked the CM to take steps to scrap the Citizenship Bill. "After completion of NRC process, those who are found to be foreigners should be deported by the government," said Hazarika.

The Bihpuria MLA also urged his fellow MLAs to stand with the people of Assam.
