Bodoland Martyrs’ Gold Cup: Mohammedan Sporting enter Semis

Traditional heavyweights Mohammedan Sporting defeated Udalguri-based Daimalu FC by 2-1 to book their place in the semifinals of the 19th Bodoland Martyrs' Gold Cup in Kokrajhar on Tuesday.

After a goalless first half, the game burst into life after the interval as Debasish Pradhan(53') broke the deadlock for the Black Panthers before Philip Adjah(67') doubled the lead for the Kolkata-side. Late inside injury time Sukur Singh pulled one back for Daimalu FC but it was too late for a turnaround then.

Earlier this month, Mohammedan Sporting clinched the 65th Bordoloi Trophy title in Guwahati getting past Oil India FC 3-1.
The tournament is being played at the Kokrajhar District Sports Association (KDSA) Ground in Kokrajhar with 13 teams participating for the crown. The winner walks away with the Gold Cup and a cash award of rupees one lakh while the runners up go home with a trophy and fifty thousand rupees cash prize.

The tournament is the brainchild of Ex-BLT welfare society in association with KDSA and is being organized annually in memory of the martyrs' of Bodoland who sacrificed their lives for the statehood.
