Burha PS incident: SI Sarma suspended

The Sub Inspector of Burha Police outpost in Darrangdistrict, Mahendra Sarma, has been suspended from his duties for allegedlystripping and brutally torturing a pregnant woman and her two sisters. Along withSarma, woman constable, Binita Boro has also been suspended.

According to reports, the three women alleged thatthey were brought from their house at Satgaon and Six Mile area in Guwahati tothe police outpost by its officer in charge Mahendra Sarma and later they wereallegedly brutally tortured overnight by him along with a woman policeconstable. The women alleged that they were beaten up with batons in privateparts by SI Sarma, two constables and a woman police constable inside thepolice station. One of the women had been pregnant for two months. The pregnantwoman stated that she had to terminate her pregnancy after the injuries.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered in the Sipajharpolice station regarding the incident.
