CAB: Black flag waved at Sonowal in Delhi

Black flags were waved at Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal when he arrived at the Assam House in New Delhi on Tuesday evening. Two youths waved the black flags as the convoy of the chief minister made its way to the Assam House.

Later, both the youths were apprehended by the police from the spot, as they continued shouting slogans against the chief minister and the government. Meanwhile, security has been tightened in front of the Assam house following the incident.

The protest was againstthe Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB), which seeks to grant Indian nationalityto Hindus, Sikhs, Parsis, Christians, Buddhists and Jains from Bangladesh,Pakistan and Afghanistan.

Sonowal, who heads theBJP-led coalition government in the State, has been facing protests by membersof different organisations over the bill.

Also, mass movements, ledby students, youth and regional organisations, have been building up in theState against the Bill.
