CAB : KMSS, AJYCP meet Jairam Ramesh

As the protests over Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 continued in Assam, state organisations are continuously combating against the controversial issue without leaving any stone unturned.

On Tuesday, KMSS Chief Akhil Gogoi and AJYCP general secretary Palash Changmai have met MP Rajya Sabha senior congress leader Jairam Ramesh in New Delhi and sought the Congress' support against the passage of the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, in Rajya sabha.

The delegation submitted a memorandum to Jairam Ramesh, and urging him to extend his party's support and cooperation, both inside and outside Parliament, to prevent the passage of the Bill.

The senior congress leader assured the delegation that Congress party will oppose the Bill in Rajya Sabha.

Along with Congress party, JD(U) and RJD (Rashtriya Janata Dal) are opposing the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016, terming it a clear threat to the indigenous languages and the culture of Assam.
