“CAB minus Bangladesh is like a time bomb”

The Nagarikatta Sangsudhani Bidheyak Birudhi Mancha on Saturday opposed the proposal of exclusion of Bangladesh from the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill, 2016. Terming the proposed exclusion of Bangladesh from the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill as dangerous, the members of Nagarikatta Sangsudhani Bidheyak Birudhi Mancha, Hiren Gohain, Harekrishna Deka and Manjit Mahanta said, "It is like a time bomb." They were addressing a press meet in Guwahati.

They called that the word 'Hindutwa' as threat to Assamese and said that exclusion of the word Bangladesh from the Bill will not be helpful to save Assam; instead, they asked the government to completely drop the Bill.

The members of the Nagarikatta Sangsudhani Bidheyak Birudhi Mancha said, "The proposed exclusion of Bangladesh is nothing but a trick of the BJP government." Harekrishna Deka said that the Bill goes against the basic tenets of the Indian Constitution. "Citizenship Amendment Bill will hurt the secular feature of India," Deka added.

The members also asked people to oppose the Bill prior to the next sitting of the JPC on December 6. They said that they would also oppose the notifications issued under Passport entry into India rules 1950 and Foreigners Orders.
