CAB: Opposition stages walkout from assembly

The opposition parties staged walkout from the Assam assembly today on the first day of the winter session of the assembly. Both Congress and AIUDF demanded the cancellation of the Question Hour and to hold a discussion on the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB) and NRC.

The Speaker Hitendra NathGoswami said that the Question Hour session could not be cancelled. Theopposition parties created ruckus in the assembly and also displayed placardsin front of the Speaker's seat.

Despite a noisy scene, the Speaker did not cancel the Question Hour and after that the Congress and AIUDF staged a walkout.

It may be mentioned herethat people of Assam are carrying out massive protests against the proposed CABas the Centre is going to table the bill in the parliament.
