In Majuli, many people shaved off their hair on the spot, to the shock of hundreds on the street to protest against the Citizenship Amendment Bill (CAB).

"By shaving our heads, we wanted to signify that the government is dead here and we are guardian-less," said protesters.

The agitators targeted the BJP-led Assam Government and said that the Sonowal government is going against its promises.

They alleged that during the election time, the BJP had promised to protect the interests of the indigenous communities of Assam. But after grabbing political power, BJP has forgotten their list of commitments.
