In a major breakthrough, Guwahati Police was able to crack down upon a car theft syndicate as well a group of gamblers last night from Subham Lodge in Beltola.

The arrested members of the inter-state car theft syndicate included Pintu Uria, Pradip Dey and Bipul Saha. All three are from Agartala.

The apprehended gamblers included Ramen Kalita, Bhaskar Jyoti Haloi and Biswajit Das.

As reported, Police recovered more than Rupees 6 lakhs cash, coins used in smuggling, cards, number plates of cars and documents of several cars from the two groups.
