Clash between RPF and public over Chhath puja venue

A major argument over Chhath puja venue took place at Raja Ali in Tinsukia.

Reportedly, local citizens of the area have been organising Chhath puja at Puroni Pukhuri in railway colony since many years. However, railway authority didn't permit the organisers to arrange the puja there.

This was followed by a major argument took place between Chhath puja organisers and railway department, which turned into a major clash.

Railway authority deployed Railway protection force (RPF) to control the situation. But, angry people created ruckus and pelted stones to RPF.

Two RPF jawans along with seven protesters injured during the protest.

It may be mentioned that Railway department closed the entry gate of the pond, where the organisers sought to arrange the Chhath puja.
