Pratidin Bureau

In a shocking incident, a class 10 student of Sivasagar Government Higher Secondary Bahumukhi School in Assam's Sivasagar district was arrested on charges of assaulting his headmaster on Friday.

The student reportedly punched the headmaster on his head, knocking him unconscious. The student, the general secretary of the school's students' association, physically assaulted the headmaster, who was on a round of inspection before normal classes began for the day.

School authorities suspended the juvenile, held a meeting with teachers and lodged a complaint before police against him.

"We arrested him and produced him before the principal magistrate of the juvenile justice board here. Our investigation is on," said Pranjit Lahkar, officer in-charge of Sivasagar police station.

Police booked him under section 332 (voluntary causing hurt to deter public servant from his duty) of the Indian Penal Code.
