CM meets Defence, Home Ministers

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi today to discuss various issues concerning the state.

The CM briefed Shah about the prevailing situation in Assam, which is gearing up for the final list of the National Register of Citizens to be published on July 31.

According to reports, Sonowal also discussed about the possible situation which may likely arise after the publication of the final NRC list.

On the other hand, CM discussed several other issues concerning the state with the Rajnath Singh.

On Thursday, the CM and PWD Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma called on Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi to discuss about the Highway conditions of Assam and also the progress of on-going road and infrastructure projects in the state.

Gadkari has also assured the CM that two new bridges will be built over Brahmaputra connecting the north and south banks of the river.
