CM orders probe into Juria incident

The incident of electrocution in Juria that occurred on Friday had sent an alarm in the power department. Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal has ordered a probe into the incident and also to take strict action against the offender employee-official.

Assam Power Distribution Company Limited (APDCL)'s huge negligence has led to the unfortunate incident at Khatowal today. The CM has directed APDCL Chairman Jishnu Barua to visit the spot to take stock of the entire incident and situation.

Allegedly, APDCL local division directed the local line man to disconnect the power supply, who had ignored the order.

After the incident, angry residents had attacked the residence of APDCL worker Fakrul Islam.

Six persons, including children, were charred to death when an APDCL high voltage overhead power line (11000 volt) snapped and fell on a pond. Reportedly, the victims came to the pond for fishing.

The victims were identified as Rafiqul Islam, Jabar Ali, Moinul Islam, Habibur Rahman, Imanul Islam and Ashiqul Islam.
