AssamFinance Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that the Congress partycannot come to power in the next 50 years. Speaking to the media, after KamakhyaPrasad Tasa and Birendra Prasad Baishya filed their nominations for the RajyaSabha polls, the Minister said, "Congress has been finished in the country andit cannot come back to power in fifty years."

The Minister further said, "To run a democratic country, there should be a strong opposition, but unfortunately there is no opposition in the country right now as Congress has got only 53 seats."

Himanta Biswa also suggested that the Congress should give Rahul Gandhi retirement. "Rahul's presence is harmful for the Congress," Himanta added.
