Congress MLA demands Rs. 5 lakhs for ZPC ticket

Badarpur Congress MLA Jamaluddin Ahmed demanded money from those seeking tickets for the coming panchayat election in the State. In a telephonic conversation, the Congress MLA was heard seeking Rs. 5 lakhs for Zila Parishad Chairman (ZPC) Ticket.

A ticket aspirant of ZPC, Tazel Ahmed, alleged that he got assurances from MLA Jamaluddin that he would be made candidate for Zila Parishad Chairman but would have to pay Rs. 5 lakh to the MLA. In the telephonic conversation, the MLA was also heard advising Tazel Ahmed how to pay the money.

It should be noted that, earlier, Biswanath District Congress President, Dilip Baruah was also alleged by the party workers that he gave away the party tickets in exchange for secret transactions of money.

Shockingly, this incident took place ahead of the Panchayat polls in the State. The polls have been scheduled in two phase's that is on December 5 and December 9 in 26 districts and 14 civil sub-divisions. The counting will take place on December 12. A total of 23,505 polling stations will be set up across the State.
