COVID-19 Assam : Kaliabor Person Aged 40 Dies

Pratidin Bureau

One more person from Assam has succumbed to COVID-19 on Tuesday. This takes the death toll of the state to 15.

Named Dhadaram Mura (40), the deceased is from Kaliabor, Nagoan. He was admitted to GMCH on July 1, and was on invasive ventilation. The patient had severe pneumonia and septic shock.

This has been informed by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on his twitter handle. He wrote, "Very sad to inform that another #COVID19 + patient Sri Dhadaram Mura (40) of Koliabor, Nagaon admitted in GMCH Covid ICU on July 1, succumbed to the infection today at 9 am. He was on invasive ventilation; had severe pneumonia and septic shock."

On the one hand, people are recovering from the contagion. On Monday, close to 450 patients were discharged. But, on the other side, there has been a surge in the number of positive cases in various parts of the state, especially Guwahati. 786 new cases were detected positive across Assam on Monday. The fact that almost all these cases had no travel history makes the scene even more alarming.
