COVID-19 Assam : New Covid Care Centre in Amingaon

Anticipating more number of COVID-19 positive cases to surface in the coming days, the government is being forced to create new COVID Care Facilities. As such, a 250-bed Covid Care Centre is going to come up at MSME Training Centre, Amingaon.  

This has been informed by Assam Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma today. Taking to twitter, he wrote that he visited the said site to take stock of the ongoing preparations.

Two other such facilities are expected to come up at IIT Guwahati (800-bed) and Maniram Dewan Trade Centre (450-bed) too.    

Assam is witnessing a sudden surge in the number of COVID-19 positive cases. 786 new cases were found across Assam on Monday. Out of those, a whopping 598 cases were from Guwahati alone.  

As per the latest update, a total of 12522 people of the state have been infected by the contagion thus far. The current lockdown in Guwahati, as suggested by the Health Minister on Sunday, may also be extended if the positive cases keep soaring.
