COVID-19 Assam:1680 New Cases Posted On July 21

Assam still hasn't come out of the grip of COVID-19. Although the sporadic lockdowns have been able to slow the spread of the contagion to a degree, fresh positive cases keep getting reported from across Assam.

On July 21, the state posted 1680 new positive cases. Out of these, Guwahati accounted for 570 cases. Jorhat, one of the worst affected districts after Kamrup Metro, posted 167 cases, and Cachar reported 159 cases.

Moreover, 18152 tests were carried out in 24 hours, and the state's positivity rate is 9.2%.

This was informed by Assam's Health Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Twitter.

Sarma tweeted, "1680 new #COVID19 patients detected in Assam on July 21.Guwahati reported  570 cases.( Jorhat167,Cachar 159)."

It is to be noted that while Guwahati's first unlock process came into effect on July 20, that in Jorhat will begin from today.
