In a tragic incident on Friday, a wild elephant calf was found dead in Digboi's Koilamati area near Nazirating forest.

According to sources, the 15-days old elephant calf came from the nearby Nazirating forest and accidently fell into the Dibru river in the vicinity and died.

Locals upon discovering it recovered the carcass from the river.
