Dispur Police Station sends notice to Akhil

A notice has been issued by the Dispur Police to Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti  leader  Akhil Gogoi at his residence to appear at the police station on Nov 3.

Two cases (3189/18 and 3197/18) have been filed against Gogoi for the 12 hour bandh called by the Organisation along with many others on October 23 against the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill 2016 at the Dispur Police Station..

Ram Sena filed one of the cases against the peasant leader for not abiding by High Court's order that recognizes bandh as illegal.

Talking to media regarding the issue Gogoi said, "I was one of the many people of Assam who had supported the bandh. But, nobody else got a notice. It is only me who has been targeted. The Assam government is trying to divide the unified voice against the amendment bill."

The Assam Bandh October 23 was called by the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samity (KMSS) – Asom Jatiyadabadi Yuva Chatra Parishad(AJYCP)- All Assam minority Students union (AAMSU) and over 60 other organizations.

On the other hand, government  urged public not to support or encourage such bandhs and said strict action to be taken against anyone supporting bandh.
