Diwali: PCB asks districts to follow SC directives

Pratidin Bureau

The Assam State Pollution Control Board (PCB) has asked every district administration to ensure implementation of the directives of the Supreme Court regarding the use of firecrackers during the Diwali festival.

The PCB has written letters to the district administrations and said that the PCB officials would carry out the monitoring of ambient air quality and noise level during the upcoming Diwali festival. It also said that they would also inspect and monitor commercial stockists of firecrackers across the State.

It may be mentioned here that the SC fixed the maximum decibel limit for firecrackers at 125db and the timing of bursting firecrackers from 8 pm to 10 pm during the days of Diwali.
