Drug addict turned thief held in Dergaon

At a time when drug abuse is increasing at an alarming rate in the northeast, at the same time, drug addicts are resorting to acts such as theft, murder and robbery among others, to buy drugs. In a similar instance in Dergaon, locals caught hold of a thief last night.

The thief held, identified as Rahul Prasad, had been handed over to the police.

Prasad has confessed, in police custody, that he took to stealing so that he can purchase drugs. Meanwhile, the addict has also taken the name of one Rakesh Ravidas, who is allegedly involved in the business of drugs.
