Drugs Seized Across Assam

Assam police over the last couple of days have successfully apprehended several drug peddlers across the state and seized huge amounts of drugs from their possession.

Nagaon police on Saturday arrested one drug peddler and seized 9 kilogram heroin from his possession kept in 21 different containers.

Apart from the heroin, police also seized one bag of tobacco leaves, Rs 53,375 in cash, one smll electronic weighing machine, silver ornaments, one bike and some other items.

The accused has been identified as Bablu Hazarika and police is currently investigating the case.

Meanwhile, in Guwahati, three persons were apprehended by the Fatasil police and seized sizeable amount heroin from the trio.

The trio has been identified as Nabajyoti Mazumdar, Abdul Hasim, and Hirkjyoti Barman.

The Lumding police also apprehended one youth on Saturday who was in possession of around 3000 tablets, assumed to be some sort of intoxicants.

The youth has been identified as Karimgan's Fauj Ahmed.

A huge amount of drugs was recovered from a pharmacy in Samta area in Nalbari on Saturday.

The drugs were seized from a pharmacy identified as Shantanu Medicos during a raid launched jointly by Samta and Belsor Police.

During the drugs seizure, police recovered around 90 packets of Spacorevon Plus, 90 packets of Nitrovon Plus tablets, 72 packets of Peevon Plus tablets including many intoxicated medicine bottles.

The pharmacy is owned by one Mintu Barman and it has been alleged that he has been running this business in the area since the last couple of years.
