Drugs worth Rs 8 lakh seized, two arrested

Dhubri's Gauripur police personnel seized rupees eight lakh worth banned drug called R-7 also known as Yaba on Sunday.

The consignment was being carried in a vehicle travelling to Gauripur from Chagolia. Police personnel informed a four-wheeler numbered AS 17 G 5709 intercepted at Gauripur near PB College and two persons namely Anarul SK from Golakganj and Ajijul Islam from Gauripur were apprehended.

The vehicle was seized along with the R-7 tablets (Yaba Tablets) in 60 packets containing approximately 200 tablets each.

Notably, during the search operation, the accused tried escaping and attacked the police personnel with bricks. One of the constables, Amzad Ali sustained minor injuries. The police officials fired a round of ammunition to control the situation. However, there were no casualties or injuries reported.
