Earthquake jolts Assam

Strong tremors jolted Assam along with Northeast India and West Bengal around 10:20 am on Wednesday.

Although, it was not immediately clear where the epicentre of the earthquake was but reportedly it originated in Assam's Sapatgram, which is a border town in between Dhubri and Kokrajhar Districts of Assam. The distance between Dhubri and Sapatgram is 47.6 km.

The magnitude reported was 5.6 on the Richter Scale, however there are no reports of any casualties or damage as of now.

Parts of Bangladesh as well had been jolted by the strong shaking.
