Earthquake jolts Mizoram

An earthquake of 4.6 magnitude has hit the state of Mizoram near Champhai on Sunday at 5:26:37 PM IST.

This has been announced by Indian's National Center for Seismology, adding that the quake hit the Northeastern state at a depth of 77 km from the surface. The epicentre of the earthquake is reported to be 25 km south-southwest (SSW) of Champhai, Mizoram.

The state has been under the grip of tremors recently. In about a month's time, Mizoram has witnessed around five jolts, making it one of the most vulnerable Indian states in terms of earthquakes.
