Elephant dies after consuming poisonous food

A tusker has been found dead at Kheroni in West Karbi Anglong on Friday.

"The animal's body was found in a sugarcane plantation of Sengseng beel in the area.

As per reports, a herd of wild elephants entered the human inhabited area on Thursday night. The elephant is reported to have died after consuming some poisonous food.

 In yet another incident, a herd of wild elephants went berserk and damaged houses in Rangjuli, reports said. The man-elephant conflict refuses to die down in the area.

The villagers have slammed the careless attitude of the district administration and the forest department in tackling the menace.
