Erosion of Brahmaputra River takes frightful turn in Sivsagar

Erosion of Brahmaputra has caused terror in various regions like Afala, Garvanga, Saraipara and many more in Sivsagar district. It may be stated that erosion has been continuing in the region since 1998.

The embankment has been eroded daily by the river which is the only hope of protection for more than 10 villages of the region. It has been alleged by the locals of the region that, Water Resource Minister Keshab Mahanta and Tapan Kr. Gogoi, the honorable MP of Jorhat LAC have visited the region and assured them for taking a step in this regard, it was in vain.

Despite informing regarding the erosion of the Brahmaputra River in the region for the years, the officials of the Water Resource Department have taken any initiative to protect the region. Now the victims have been living in fear of losing their lives and property.
