Ex-CJI vacates official Bungalow in 3 days

Long before the deadline,former Chief Justice of India, Ranjan Gogoi has vacated his official residencein New Delhi and returned to Assam on Wednesday. He retired on17 November asthe Chief Justice of India.

Justice Ranjan Gogoi hasmoved out of the 5 Krishna Menon Marg bungalow and become the first ChiefJustice to vacate his official residence within three days of retirement.

It may be mentioned herethat earlier, Justice JS Khehar, the former CJI, had vacated his officialresidence a week after his retirement.

Meanwhile, Justice Gogoi'shouse in Guwahati was renovated and his security was upgraded to Z plusfollowing the delivery of the historic Ayodhya verdict.

On his last working day, he sat in the Supreme Court's number one court for a few minutes, during which the lawyers' body of the Supreme Court paid tribute to him. After his retirement, Justice SA Bobde took over as the new Chief Justice of India.
