Fake Press Release in my name: Bhubaneswar

Pratidin Bureau

After taking resignation from the Upper house, senior Congress leader Bhubaneswar Kalita hurriedly convened a press conference and said that he hadn't issued any press release regarding his resignation from the party.

"I have resigned from Rajya Sabha. Not from the party" : said Kalita

"A press release has been circulated in my name. I'd like to inform you that it is fake. Even, I didn't disclose my resignation letter except the honorable speaker of Rajya Sabha." : Kalita added.

Meanwhile, Former Chief Minister of Assam, Tarun Gogoi lashed out at senior party leader Bhubaneswar Kalita today. Gogoi clearly said that he is an "opportunist".

Kalita emphasized that former CM Tarun Gogoi should wait for the authentic information in regard to my resignation from the party before making any statement.

The Congress whip in Rajya Sabha, Bhubaneswar Kalita, has resigned over his party's stand on the government's move to revoke Article 370 and bifurcate Jammu and Kashmir into two Union Territories.

The MP claimed that the Congress party was committing suicide by opposing the abrogation of Article 370. In a letter circulating online, Bhubaneswar Kalita said that the party leadership had asked him to issue a whip but he felt that the "whip was against the nation's sentiments". Thus, he said, he decided to resign from the party.
