A sudden downpour in Guwahati has left several places of the city inundated. The showers, accompanied by thunderstorms, started in the evening, and within no time, different areas became a victim of flash floods.

Areas like Chandmari, Gandhi Basti, Nabin Nagar, Anil Nagar and Bhaskar Nagar are worst hit by the urban floods. Many among the ones allowed to perform their duties in the otherwise locked down city are learnt to be facing severe inconvenience due to the floods.  

Guwahati's problem with urban floods has become perennial. With no permanent solution in sight, it continues to haunt scores of people living in the city.
