Theflood situation in Assam has turned critical on Thursday as thousands of peoplein the State are stranded or have been displaced. As per the reports, an infantdied in the floods in Mushalpur area under Baksa district today.

The districts affected by floods are: Goalpara, Kamrup (R), Baksa, Barpeta and Nalbari. The floods follow incessant rainfall over the past few days, which has led to sharp increase in the level of water in rivers.

According to reports, the river Brahmaputra and some of its tributaries are flowing above their danger mark in different parts of the State.
