Flood hits Nazira and Sonari in upper Assam

Incessant rains have led to rise in water level of the Disang river in Sivasagar district of upper Assam. Water has subsequently inundated several oil fields of ONGC.

Water level of the Disang river has also been rising in Charaideo district and has led to flood at Safrai Barpothar in Sonari. Around 50 families have been affected in the wave of flood.

As per reports, many bamboo bridges have been swept away by flood water.

It may be mentioned here that, though the overall flood situation had recently improved in Assam, the death toll touched 31. Lakhimpur district has also been hit by a flood wave recently.
