Forest official caught for bribery

The Assam Police anti-corruption branch (ACB) has caught Forest beat officer Dhiraj Das from Divisional Forest Office of North Kamrup Divisions Rangia, while he was taking a bribe amount of Rs. 9,000/- from complainant Lakhi Das of Tamulpur, Baksa.

Reportedly, the forest beat officer had demanded Rs. 3000 per month from each of the 3 Dumper Vehicles of the complainant carrying sand through his division. He had threatened that he would charge Rs. 3 Lakh for three dumpers if he doesn't agree to pay the monthly amount and warned that vehicles would be caught during checking.

The complaint against Dhiraj Das approached the ACB PS in the Directorate of Vigilance & Anti Corruption, Assam and a trap was laid down as per standard procedure in matter if ACB PS Case No. 21/2018 u/s 7(a)/13(1)(b)/13(2) of PC Act (as amended in 2018).

Forest beat officer Dhiraj Das will be forwarded to the Special Court tomorrow morning.
