Former secretary of Sankardev Kalashetra arrested

Pratidin Bureau

Police today arrested former Secretary of Srimanta Sankardev Kalashetra, Sabin Rajkhowa, in connection with a case for misappropriation of government funds worth Rs 1.10 crore.

Rajkhowa has been arrested under a complaint filed by Vigilance and anti-corruption bureau for his involvement in misappropriation of funds over Rs 1 crore in 2011-12, which the Kalashetra was allotted by Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts (INGCA).

Earlier, a case was filed against Sabin Rajkhowa by the Vigilance and anti-corruption bureau in July last year.

The assistant accountant of the Kalashetra during his regime, Dwipen Sharma, was arrested in March this year for his involvement in the case.

The investigators have alleged that during enquiry, they found withdrawals worth Rs 2.5 crore from the official bank account with Rajkhowa's permission but that did not reflect in any official records.

Rajkhowa is currently being presented in the court.
