Foundation stone for new Engineering College laid at Bongaigaon

Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Thursday laid foundation stone for the Bongaigaon Engineering College at Bongaigaon.

The Engineering College, once completed, is expected to provide a huge impetus in furthering technical education in Assam, employing state-of-the-art infrastructure.

It skilled human resources is also expected to act as an important link in forging ties with South East Asia countries boosting the state economy.

Following the foundation laying ceremony, Cm Sonowal said, "I would urge the people of Jelkajhar, Borkhongaon, Mulagaon, Bakhrapara, Deuripara, the five villages adjoining the campus of the upcoming Engineering College to take keen interest in the construction of the institution. They should treat the College as their own".

"I believe this Engineering College, which will be named after Bir Chilarai and is located in a scenic location, will also attract many tourists. I would suggest that a quality guesthouse should be constructed within the campus as it will enhance reputation of the institution", the CM added.
