The Gohpur police on Saturday night detained four rhino poachers from southern area of the town. Acting on a tip off, a joint team of Gohpur police and BSF carried search operation to nab the poachers.

The detainees were identified as V Chainmel Thango from Mizoram, Jirebohur Mongbaifai from Arunachal Pradesh, Ramesh Pegu from Gohpur and Rakesh Pegu from Lohitmukh. Police also seized a horn from the poachers with some objectionable documents.

Meanwhile, all of them were taken to the Gohpur Police Station to continue the interrogation process, informed police.
