Goalpara: Wild Elephant Tramples Woman to Death

An aged woman was trampled to death by a wild elephant in Goalpara district on Friday.

The woman named Tilottoma Ray, aged 70, was killed by a wild elephant at Korkuchi, Dohela under Dudhnoi Police Station today morning.

Divisional Forest Officer, Jitendra Kumar informed that the dead body has sent for post mortem and necessary legal formalities are going on for sanction of ex gratia to the next of kin of the deceased.

Goalpara district accounted for 19 deaths so far due to elephant attacks this year. This is the second death this month.
