A massive fire broke out on Tuesday in Golaghat's Shrimanta Nagar.

At least six houses were gutted in the blaze. The residents barely managed to escape. Several lakh rupees of property and other belongings have been damaged reportedly. It is suspected the fire has been caused due to a short circuit.

The fire department is at the site of incident trying to douse the flames.
