Gold recovered in Guwahati and Silchar airports

The CISF on Sunday morning recovered 400 gram of gold at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. An individual, who has been identified as D Nadigiri, had hidden the gold in his rectum.

The gold was being smuggled from Guwahati to Mumbai. Nadigiri, who was supposed to board the 6E 433 Indigo flight, has been handed over to the Customs department after interrogation by the CISF.

In another related incident, the CISF recovered 10 gold biscuits at Kumbhirgram Airport in Silchar. During a search conducted by the CISF and Customs department, 1.6 kg gold were recovered from two passengers.

The passengers, identified as Barkat Khan and Rajendra Sribar, were trying to smuggle the gold to Delhi. They are now in CISF custody.
