Gold Recovered at Guwahati Railway Station

The railway police recovered 5 gold biscuits of 8 kilograms from a  person in Saraighat Express (UW ) during a regular check  on Monday at 12:25 pm.

The railway police arrested a person named Kiran Bishwanath Patil(31). Kiran hails from Maharashtra's Philawari.

After observing all the formalities, he was  handed over to Custom Department,Guwahati for further action.

Guwahati has become a hub for smuggling of gold from Myanmar, via Manipur and Mizoram. In this case, the smuggled gold was destined for Delhi and other north Indian cities, the officer said.

Gold biscuits worth more than Rs 30 lakh were recovered by Assam Police at Paltanbazar on May 21. Four biscuits, weighing 950 grams each, were recovered by the Police during a regular check.

On July 15th  the Central Industrial security Force (CISF ) recovered 400 gram of gold at the Lokpriya Gopinath Bordoloi International Airport in Guwahati. An individual had hidden the gold in his rectum.
