Golok Chandra Goswami passes away

Eminentlinguist Golok Chandra Goswami is no more. He passed away on Friday morning athis residence in Guwahati. Goswami was 96 at the time of his death.

He wasborn in Morigaon in the year 1923. Goswami pursued his masters' degree inAssamese language from Gauhati University. In 1985, he retired from the GauhatiUniversity. Assam Bhasha Bikash Samiti accorded him 'Bhashacharya' title.In 2018, he was awarded with Hemchandra Barua Bhasha Sahitya SadhanaAward by Sadin-Pratidin Group.

Dhwabibigyanor Bhumika (1966), Asomiya Bornaprakash (1969), Bhasha Tarangini, An Introduction to Assamese Phonolog (1966), Structure of Assamese (1983), Hindi-Asomiya Laghukosh (1985), Bharatiya Bhasakosh (1985), Dr. Banikanta Kakati Commeroration Volume (1997) (Edited) etc.

Meanwhile,Assam Sahitya Sabha condoled demise of Golok Chandra Goswami. In a pressstatement, the apex literary body said that Goswami contributed towardsstrengthening the Assamese language throughout his life.
