Pratidin Bureau

Hours after the Supreme Court (SC) pulled up the Centre for not taking NRC process seriously, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Tuesday asserted that the Centre is committed to complete the NRC process within the fixed time and will make sure that no foreigner is included or any Indian citizen excluded.

"The government is committed to complete and publish an error-free NRC within the fixed time without excluding any Indian citizen," Rajnath Singh said.

The home minister claimed that the centre has released the funds and supplied other essential infrastructure necessary for the NRC updation exercise.

He also said, "After 1971, NRC is to be updated for the first time only because of Central and the state government's spontaneous effort."
