“Govt. must grant ST status within 3 days”

KMSS Chief Akhil Gogoi on Tuesday called a press conference on the Union Cabinet's nod for granting Scheduled Tribe status to six communities listed as Other Backward Classes in Assam.

"BJP leaders said that the government will safeguard the interest of all the indigenous people of the state in right earnest by implementing six clause of Assam accord. But they are now silent."- Akhil said.

Akhil questioned about the status of proposed ST status to six indigenous communities of Assam.

He also demanded Government to grant ST status to six communities within March 8.

"Modi has been cheating the Assamese community since 5 years. The death of jawans in terror attacks has risen in Modi regime."- Gogoi.

"Himanta Biswa Sarma is passing communal comments; Government should take action against him."

"BJP Government has assumed charge with support from all indigenous people and it was fully committed to protect their tradition. But, now they have forgotten their promises." – Gogoi added.
