Govt. To Hold talks with tea garden managements

CM Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday asked the DCs and SPs to hold talks with the trade unions and tea garden managements in regard to the ongoing crisis in Assam tea industry.

Referringto a statement issued by Indian Tea Association (ITA) informing that teaindustry might not be able to give 20 percent bonus to the workers this yearbefore Durga Puja due to heavy losses incurred by the industry, therefore Sonowalasked the DCs and SPs to hold talks with the trade unions and tea gardenmanagements so that issues could be resolved peacefully. He also directeddistrict administrations to take help of MLAs and other public representativesin handling the situation.  

Mediaand Legal Advisers to the Chief Minister Hrishikesh Goswami and ShantanuBharali, Chief Secretary Alok Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary of Home and Political Department Kumar SanjayKrishna, DG of Assam Police Kuladhar Saikia, Principal Secretary to the ChiefMinister Sanjay Lohia were present in the meeting along with other top policeand administrative officials of the state.
